Terri Ann Lowenthal is a nationally recognized expert on the U.S. census and policy issues affecting the federal statistical system. She held staff positions in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate for many years and was staff director of the House census oversight subcommittee from 1987-94. She covered the Census Bureau and federal statistical activities for the 2008 Obama Presidential Transition Team. Ms. Lowenthal is Senior Advisor to The Census Project and to the Funders Census Initiative (FCI) 2020 (a Funders Committee for Civic Participation project); author of the Census Project Blog; and a consultant on census issues to the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights/Education Fund. She holds a B.A. in Africana Studies from Cornell University and J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
