Karen Schuler is the Managing Director of Search, Transition & Planning Services at Raffa, P.C., a woman-owned, professional services firm in the Washington, DC area that is dedicated to strengthening and supporting the nonprofit sector. With over thirty years of experience, Karen brings the strongest elements of effective business modeling to nonprofit organizations. She leverages the full resources of the firm to support her clients through dynamic development and integrates succession and strategic planning to build mission capacity and sustainability. A trusted advisor on complex projects, Karen advances best practices in the leadership transition and executive search, helping organizations capture the power of leadership change and thrive through leadership transitions. She works with local, regional, national, and international organizations representing a wide range of mission areas, including associations, human services, food banks, community development and housing, health, behavioral health, and advocacy. Karen is also a frequent speaker at numerous conferences across the country and is the facilitator of the two-day Next Steps workshop for nonprofit executives. She has served in nonprofit leadership positions at both the staff and board level. Prior to joining Raffa, Karen served as Executive Vice President of TransitionGuides, a national consulting firm focused on nonprofit leadership and sustainability.
